Paintings
The paintings exist as a still or fixed form of the same processes and concepts found within the Evaporation Pool. By presenting these processes in a vertical format several possibilities in perspective exist simultaneously. The “Alluvial Interior” pieces are more abstract meditations on fluid processes, inferring both an internal and external, yet micro and macro dimensionality. While works such as “Moor” or “Wetlands” come to a similar play of interior/exterior, but by means that are more overtly landscape.
At least three planes exist within the shifting vanishing points of the paintings. One can often view in the same piece an inference for great spatial depths that recede into a horizon line of vast proportions, yet quite suddenly the work presents as a view to a landmass from above. Thirdly, microscopic dimension also comes into play as the image likens to an internal place, such as that found in vascular systems, or structures, whether plant or human.
